This wiki and the Methods Guide are intended to be a users’ first step to selecting assessment and monitoring protocols by providing enough information on strengths, limitations, and rangeland applications that users can seek additional, more specific how-to information on the recommended techniques.
You can browse and read the wiki pages without needing any sort of login or registration to this site. Registered users have the ability to comment on methods or tools or join in discussions. The Rangeland Assessment and Monitoring Methods Guide also relies on contributions of information about and reviews of the many rangeland assessment and monitoring methods. The abstracts in this wiki have been created by rangeland science and management professionals who have generously volunteered their time and expertise. We need your help to make the Methods Guide as complete and useful as possible. There are lots of ways that you can get involved:

The guide is in the early phases of development so the subjects addressed at this time are limited in scope. The current focus is on upland shrub steppe vegetation and topics include grazing management, vegetation mapping, weeds, juniper encroachment, seral stage and condition, and some limited treatment of wildlife habitat concerns. In the future we hope to expand the system to consider more topics and attributes of rangeland management.
This wiki was designed to be a companion to the Rangeland Methods Guide. The Methods Guide helps you find the field and remote-sensing methods most useful for your rangeland assessment and monitoring needs. It provides reviews on how well each method performs to answer specific questions as well as descriptions, relative costs, references to rangeland applications, and contact information for the different techniques.
Our Methods Guide Help Page has tutorials on how to use the methods guide, answers to common support questions, and contact information so you can get in touch with us.
